Question 1

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

Accepted Answer

No — chiropractors are primary care practitioners, so you can book directly without a referral from your GP. Just choose a time that suits you and come as you are.

Question 2

How do I book an appointment?

Accepted Answer

You can book online through our contact page, call the clinic on 0411 963 965, or send us an email. Online booking runs 24/7, so you can secure a time outside clinic hours and see exactly what's available without waiting on a phone call — and you'll get a confirmation straight away.

Question 3

Where are you located and which areas do you look after?

Accepted Answer

We're at 1/12 Campbell Cres, Terrigal NSW 2260, with easy parking. Most of our patients come from Terrigal, Erina, Gosford, West Gosford, Wamberal, Avoca and across the wider Central Coast — usually a short drive away.

Question 4

What should I bring to my first visit?

Accepted Answer

Bring any relevant scans, X-rays or reports if you have them, plus your health fund card. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. You won't need to change or undress for most treatments.

Question 5

What happens at the first consultation?

Accepted Answer

Your first visit is about listening and understanding. We'll take a detailed history, perform a physical examination, explain what we find, and recommend a care plan. If treatment is appropriate, we'll usually begin on the same day.

Question 6

How many sessions will I need?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your condition, how long it's been present, and what you want to achieve. Some people feel better in a few visits; others benefit from a longer plan. We'll always explain our recommendations and respect your choices.

Question 7

What should I wear to my appointment?

Accepted Answer

Comfortable, loose clothing is best — something you can move and lie down in easily. You won't need to change for most appointments.

Question 8

Do you accept health funds?

Accepted Answer

Yes. HICAPS is available on-site for instant claiming with participating funds, including Medibank, Bupa, HCF, NIB and AHM. Whether a rebate applies, and how much, depends on your fund, your level of cover and your remaining limits — so it is worth checking with your fund.

Question 9

Is chiropractic care safe?

Accepted Answer

When provided by a qualified, experienced practitioner, chiropractic care is very safe. Chris Youakim, Chiropractor uses gentle, low-force techniques and tailors every treatment to the person in front of him.

Question 10

What is Flexion Distraction Therapy?

Accepted Answer

It's a gentle, non-thrusting chiropractic technique performed on a specialised table. The table creates a slow, controlled rocking motion that helps decompress the spine. It's especially helpful for disc-related pain, sciatica and sensitive lower backs.

Question 11

Will treatment hurt?

Accepted Answer

Most people find chiropractic care comfortable and relieving. You may feel some mild tenderness after the first visit, similar to how you feel after a massage or exercise, but this usually settles quickly.

Question 12

Can I have chiropractic care if I'm pregnant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many pregnant women find chiropractic care helpful for back pain, pelvic discomfort and postural strain. We use gentle, pregnancy-safe techniques and support you through each stage.

Question 13

Do you treat children?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we see children and teenagers with age-appropriate, very gentle techniques. If you're unsure whether chiropractic care is right for your child, we're happy to chat before you book.
